an HDR is a combination of the same photo with a correct exposure, under exposed and over exposed photograph witch makes the colors in the picture pop.

Bracketing is done when several shots of the same subject are taken with varying exposures.

The main software used is photoshop.

The key is to not go to the extreme and combine dozens of photos leaving every pixel of the photo well exposed.
